ASSOCIATION FOR BIODIVERSITY INFORMATION
President and Chief Executive Officer
The Association for Biodiversity Information (ABI)-a new $8 million,
90-staff international non-profit organization headquartered in the
Washington, DC area-seeks a President & CEO. ABI was formed in July,
1999,
by The Nature Conservancy and the international network of Natural
Heritage
Programs and Conservation Data Centres in Canada, the United States,
Latin
America, and the Caribbean. ABI's mission is to work in partnership with
the
Network of Natural Heritage Programs and Conservation Data Centres to
manage
and distribute authoritative information critical to the conservation of
the
world's biological diversity.
The Board of Directors of ABI seeks a dynamic leader and
institution-builder-committed to ABI's conservation mission-who combines
strong business development, management, and fundraising skills with a
sophisticated understanding of the international market for conservation
information. The organization is poised to fill a critical market niche
for
high-quality, multi-jurisdictional biodiversity information required by
public and private decision-makers. ABI intends to grow quickly and
dramatically and requires an entrepreneurial leader to oversee that
growth
and ensure the organization's success.
