My posting of the reference to British endemic higher plants has generated
some feedback on their conservation status. Anyone interested can consult
the Joint Nature Conservation Committee website which lists plants (higher
and lower) and fungi which are nationally threatened, localised or protected
in Great Britain. Threat classification follows the 1994 IUCN criteria.
Animals are dealt with on a linked page.
Apomictic species, which form the vast majority of the previously mentioned
endemic list, are not included.
