My apologies to the idividual who recieved this message -- it was supposed
to go to the list!
I have some copyright questions to ask those of you who work with editing
and publication of journals that newly published botanical names appear
in such as Taxacom or Rhodora.
I want to include protologs to taxa that have been named in the Trilliaceae
on my web page, and I know that copyright must be considered.
When a new name is published, does the copyright typically remain with
the author of the article or with the journal?
Are these copyrights generally renewed at the end of their original term?
If the originating author is deceased, where (or from whom) would you
go to seek permission to reprint such copyrighted material?
Thank you for your help.
