endemic species of Great Britain

A list of plants endemic to the British Isles has recently been published in
BSBI News (no. 80, p. 23-27, Jan. 1999), the newsletter of the Botanical
Society of the British Isles. The list (compiled by TCG Rich, G Hutchinson,
R Randall & RG Ellis) of about 470 taxa includes 200 _Rubus_, 149
_Hieracium_ and 39 _Taraxacum_ as well as 30 endemic subspecies. There are
about 10 non-critical species such as _Gentianella anglica_ and _Primula
scotica_.
