I really enjoyed reading the Dan Janzen story on Filemaker Pro and Mac
laptops, and have been making use of the Orthoptera Species File database
by Nascrecki and Otte for some time.
You may be interested to read about the Animal Diversity Web and "Spinning
Skulls" project here at the Univ. of Michigan Museum of Zoology. Dr. Phil
Myers has had his work showcased by Apple's Higher Ed website and educator
newsletter:

The use of QuickTime VR and Adobe Photoshop has enabled Phil and his
students to create some very novel ways in which we can access specimens
without physically handling them.
