     INDEX HERBARIORUM and PLANT SPECIALISTS INDEX

     Updated information for 1610 herbaria in 117 countries listed in INDEX
     HERBARIORUM, edition 8, and its supplements (published in TAXON) is
     available for searching by institution, city, state, acronym, staff
     member, correspondent, and research specialty
     (http://www.nybg.org/bsci/ih/ih.html).  Telephone and fax numbers and
     e-mail and URL addresses are included.

     Note that the Index is fully searchable on research specialty, so it
     also serves as a PLANT SPECIALISTS INDEX.

     Updated information is available for all herbaria registered in INDEX
     HERBARIORUM in the following countries:  Alderney, Angola, Austria,
     Barbados, Belarus, Belize, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana,
     Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cayman Islands,
     Central African Republic, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Denmark, Fiji, French
     Guiana, French Polynesia, Guadeloupe, Guam, Guatemala, Guernsey,
     Guyana, Iceland, Jersey Islands, Lebanon, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius,
     Moldava, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, New Caledonia, Panama,
     Seychelles, Singapore, Suriname, Swaziland, Togo, Trinidad, U.S.A.,
     and Virgin Islands.

     Updated information is available for 75-99% of the herbaria in
     Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, Ireland, Italy,
     Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Papua New Guinea, and Puerto Rico.

     Updated information is available for 50-74% of the herbaria in
     Armenia, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Ethiopia,
     Finland, France, Germany, Honduras, Hungary, Iran, Isle of Man,
     Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Lithuania, Malaysia, Morocco, New Zealand,
     Senegal, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Uruguay, and
     Venezuela.

     Updated information is available for 25-49% of the herbaria in
     Dominican Republic, Egypt, Estonia, Greece, India, Indonesia, Iran,
     Kazakhstan, Latvia, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru,
     Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Tanzania, Turkmenistan, and
     Vietnam.

     Updated information is available for 1-24% of the herbaria in Georgia,
     Ghana, Israel, Myanmar, Portugal, Turkey, U.K., and Ukraine.

     No updated information is available for the herbaria in Afghanistan,
     Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Burundi, El Salvador,
     Gabon, Greenland, Haiti, Ivory Coast, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia,
     Libya, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Malta, Mongolia, Niger, Oman, People's
     Republic of China, Philippines, Poland, Republic of China, R union,
     Romania, Russia, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Sri Lanka,
     Sudan, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Yugoslavia,
     Zaire, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
