TENURE TRACK POSITION Ð VERTEBRATE PALEONTOLOGIST
The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and the Department of
Biological Sciences are seeking a Vertebrate Paleontologist who has
a demonstrated interest in research on fossil tetrapods. This
appointment will complement and enhance the existing strengths in
evolutionary biology, systematics, and paleontology of fishes and
invertebrates that already exist in these departments. Both
departments are exceptionally well equipped and extensive collections of
vertebrate fossils already exist.
The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and the Department
of Biological Sciences have international reputations for excellence
in teaching and research. The successful candidate will be expected
to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. The successful
candidate will also be expected to enhance that reputation by establishing
an innovative and rigorous, and externally funded research program that will
include the supervision of M.Sc. and Ph.D. candidates and interaction with
other faculty members who are engaged in related research programs. Field
experience would be an asset.

The appointment for this position will be at the Assistant Professor level.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree at the time of appointment and have a
proven research record, and demonstrate excellence in teaching. The
appointment will commence on January 1, 2000 provided that a suitable
candidate can be found.
