There is another option for obtaining micrographs of the crab
spiders (and other type material). I successfully used type material
of Tingidae (Lace Bugs) in an Environmental Scanning Electron
Microscope without any damage to the specimens. No coating nor other
substantial preparation is needed in order to view specimens with the
ESEM and the results were quite good.
I will be happy to discuss more details with you off-list if you are
interested.
