Dear Dr. Clark, and other taxonomists interested in the size of
file formats and file transfers,
Meanwhile, I threw approximately one dollar in and downloaded acrobat reader
4.0 at a velocity of 3,20 kb/s.
And now it works out perfectly well with my PAUP Beta Manual.
But how much percent a rtf, txt or doc file is larger than a pdf file?
One other curiosity: This transfer rate (about 3 kb/s) which I obtained, by
using a private phone line, is typical for Brazil? or is it common in the whole
world or do the US have faster transfers?
Also: Universities often offer their users (students, scientists, tecnicians
and so on) unlimited internet access:
How much do they pay for it, normally, to the phone companies?
Thanks for this rather practical advices, Thomas
