Not so.  ICBP (International Congress of Bird Preservation?) auctioned off a
bird name about 2 years ago.  I don't have the name to hand, but it was also, I
believe, Brazilian.  The proceeds went toward conservation of the bird's
ecosystem.

I thought this subject became a good-sized thread on Taxacom when it happened.
