NATIONAL HERBARIUM OF THE NETHERLANDS
Wageningen University Branch
The National Herbarium of the Netherlands is an interuniversity
institute of the Universities of Leiden, Utrecht and Wageningen with a
collection of over 5.5 million specimens of phanerogams and
cryptogams from the Paleo- and Neotropics and Europe and a research
programme aimed at floristic, taxonomic, phylogenetic, and
biogeographic studies and biodiversity assessments. There are
excellent facilities for taxonomic, morphological, anatomical and
ultrastructural research. Currently molecular facilities are being
expanded and molecular analyses are increasingly integrated in the
systematic research projects.
The Wageningen branch of the National Herbarium the Netherlands is
looking for candidates for two postdoc positions, for a 2 year period
with the possibility of a tenure track leading to a longer contract
and ultimately a permanent senior position.
The two positions:
Postdoc 1 (ref.nr.: PW 99-153)
Biodiversity research aimed at the flora of tropical Africa. The
candidate should have a background in plant taxonomic research in
tropical Africa, be able to participate in the development of a
research program focused on plant biodiversity in this area, supervise
ongoing research projects, and have a keen interest in the
dissemination of the results of biodiversity research. A working
knowledge of the French language is important since many projects are
conducted in francophone countries.
Postdoc 2 (ref.nr.: PW 99-154)
Molecular biosystematics. The candidate should have a background in
molecular plant systematics, be able to participate in the development
of a research program focused on molecular biosystematics, and have
experience in the application of molecular techniques in plant
taxonomy and the phylogenetic interpretation of molecular data.
The successful applicants should have a PhD in plant systematics, a
good publication record, be able to participate in the development of
research proposals, and have experience in teaching.
Salary, depending on experience, between NGL 4110,- and 7618,-
Applications with a full cv and names of three referees should be
addressed to Mr. J.M.P. Jansen, Personeelsdienst Departement
