Position Title: Curatorial Assistant II
                         OEB Research, Harvard University Herbaria
Salary Grade: 6

Duties and Responsibilities:  Working with the Curator of the Farlow
Library and Herbarium, the Assistant Director for Collections, the Manager
of the Systematics Collections and the Collection/Research Associate in the
Farlow Herbarium of Cryptogamic Botany, will assist in the re-housing and
renovation of the bryological and part of the lichenological collections.
Working with the Associate and with student workers, will participate in
integrating moss specimens from 2 separate collections into one central
collection; will participate in the return of these collections into newly
renovated space with compactorized storage units; will repair and repacket
specimens as needed; will organize and sort material.  Will also assist
with general curation of the cryptogamic collections, including selection
of material for loans to specialists, insertion of newly accessioned
material, specimen label preparation and record-keeping.

Requirements:  College degree with specialized courses pertaining to
taxonomy and/or herbarium/museum collections preferred; word processing and
data entry skills, preferably with knowledge of the DOS/Windows 95
environment and specimen databases.  Strong interpersonal skills and
communication skills; ability to work well independently and with others.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
