I recently acquired:
Tenney, Sanborn. 1875. Elements of Zoology: A Text-book.
NY: Ivison, Blakeman, Taylor, & Co. 503 pp.
This is a college textbook, mostly containing a survey of
the animal kingdom, with a chapter on comparative
vertebrate anatomy and another (rather quaint) chapter on
cytology. The primary positive feature is the 750 wood-engraved
illustrations of various animals. These are quite striking.
Unfortunately, the book is in hideous condition; the binding
has disintigrated; the cover is badly stained, the frontispiece
is half-missing, and page 83/84 is torn. But you can have it
rebound for a few dollars and have a nice book. It's yours
for US$10 plus postage.
