*.dbf statistical packages

I've been using SYSTAT on some data that I have in Foxpro files, which
has forceably brought to mind a question I've wondered about ever since I
started using dBase many years ago: Are there any statstical packages
that will work directly with *.dbf database tables, instead of wrenching
them into their own dead-end file format?

I've written a few simple programs stats procedures in Foxpro, but it
would be nice to know I'm not missing a full array of programs that
already exist.
