PhD STUDENTSHIPS IN SYSTEMATIC ZOOLOGY
UPPSALA UNIVERSITY
Two PhD studentships in systematic zoology are available at the
Evolutionary Biology Centre, Uppsala University starting in January 1999. A
studentship includes monetary support for four years of full time research
training and research and leads to a PhD. We are looking for candidates
that are interested in one of the following areas: 1) theoretical
systematics, particularly methods and algorithms of phylogenetic inference,
gene tree comparisons, and analyses of coevolution and historical
biogeography; 2) comparative morphology and anatomy, molecular phylogeny,
and evolution of insect-parasitic and plant-parasitic insects, particularly
gall wasps; 3) biodiversity research with emphasis on systematics and
taxonomy of parasitic wasps. For further information, contact Prof. Fredrik
