subsequent typification

The ICBN allows the subsequent typification by designating a lecto-
or neotype. Is it allowed to typify a a name (not typified before) by
choosing a specimen, which is already a type of another name?
Would this be allowed even then, when the name to typify would obtain
priority over the (younger) name, which type was used for
this new typification?
I can not find any evidende for the one or other possibility in the
code, although I believe, that the last mentioned case would not
contribute to nomenclatural stability.
