Dear Taxacomers:

I am a 10%-time curator of a small university herbarium at the Idaho
State Univerity (~60,000 specimens with majority from southeastern
Idaho). The herbarium is under the administration of the Idaho Museum
of Natural History. I am trying to get a graduate curitorial
assistanship from the university Research Office to attract graudate
student and help with some routine herbarium business.

I need to present to the Dean of the Research Office how such a
curitorial assistanship for the herbarium would be important in teaching
and research (partiucularly bringing in external fundings for the
herbarium or for my own research projects at the Biological
department). I believe many of you have experience in this regard. I
am seeking advice and input regarding specific aspects that can be used
to illustrate the important roles of a herbarium and a graduate
curitorial assistant. Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
