Brazilian Tettigoniid help

A student here just came to me with a request - they've been collecting
some species of tettigoniids in bromeliads here (looks as if they may be
apterous and restricted to bromeliads), and have been unable to find any
references or experts to make species identifications. For that matter, I
also was recently given a phenomenal wasp-mimetic specimen (big, black and
yellow, with modified antennae) recently that I'm curious about, myself.
Last time I had a similar problem (roaches and Psocoptera), I got some
useful answers on the net, so I thought I'd ask again. And incidentally,
the school library doesn't appear to have any of the "guides to keys" (e.g.
Sims & Hollis' "Animal Identification: A Reference Guide") that people had
suggested for this sort of query.
