NYBG North American Bryophyte Catalogue Update

     NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN NORTH AMERICAN BRYOPHYTE CATALOG

     Additional records of moss specimens from Alaska, Canada and Greenland
     have recently been added to the New York Botanical Garden North
     American Bryophyte Catalogue web site:

     MOSS FAMILIES AVAILABLE FOR SEARCHING:  ALL except Amblystegiaceae,
     Hylocomiaceae, and Polytrichaceae  (due to be completed by 1 April,
     1998).  All previously posted data have been re-extracted from the
     database, so new records are available in many families.


     ANTHOCEROTE AND HEPATIC FAMILIES AVAILABLE FOR SEARCHING: ALL.  All
     previously posted data have been re-extracted from the database, so
     new records are available in many families.

     A new index to the genera and number of records in each is now in
     place at the North American Bryophyte Catalogue site.  Choose the
     option "Taxa currently available" from the main page to see this
     index.

     The total number of records now available for searching at the
     abovementioned site now stands at  53,896.
