VENUE
The University's traditions go back to the late nineteenth century when
local initiatives established schools of science and art in Reading.
After a generation as a University College the University received its
Royal Charter in 1926. Development at the 300 acres Whiteknights campus
began in 1954 and continues over forty years later.

THEME
The explosion in the creation and utilization of biodiversity data
systems has brought to the fore the need for standards, models and
interoperability. The myriad specialist quality data sets created
worldwide need to be communicated and integrated for access by the
Databases Working Group, TDWG, a specialist group of IUBS which has done
much to further the creation and usage of standards in biodiversity data
systems community.
