How organisms get their names

Ever have anyone describe the business of coining names for new
species as dull and boring? You can easily dissuade them with the
book I recently obtained and am willing to pass on. This is a
first-edition copy of

Evans, Howard Ensign. 1993. Pioneer Naturalists: The Discovery
and Naming of North American Plants and Animals. NY: Henry Holt.

It contains folksy tales of the origins of the scientific names of
dozens of plants and animals.
   I also have

Cornish, C.J. 1907. Animal Artisans and Other Studies of Birds
and Beasts.

Again, a folksy , readable approach to Natural History.
    Make me an offer.
