Just as "taxon" means "taxonomic group", and is the term to cover all such, e.g.
species, genera, familiae etc., so "culton" is the term coined by Brandenburg
and Hetterscheid for "cultivated plant group" and covers the groups of
"cultivated taxa" ("culta"), recognized under the International Code of
Nomenclature of Cultivated Plants; the principal such being "cultivar" and
"cultivar group", though there is also "denomination class". John McNeill
