Mystery plant.

I would be grateful for help in identifying a "mystery" plant.  An
image of fruit pieces can be found at

The bits were collected in the Dominican Republic.  Unfortunately, we
do not have seeds or leaves to aid in identification.  We suspect the
pieces may be parts of a capsule of _Hura crepitans_ or a near
relative in the Euphorbiaceae.

Any pointers are welcome.
