I realize that the following question deals with
genetics rather than systematics, but I do not subscribe
to any genetics chat-lines (nor do I wish to) and
I am hoping someone here can answer the question.
What percentage of a person's DNA is inherited from
her/his mother? Conventional wisdom says 50%, but it
is undoubtedly higher than that, and different
for men and women. X chromosomes are larger than Y
chromosomes, and mitochondrial DNA comes entirely from the
mother.
