Plant field guide formats

Dear Taxacomers

As a few of you already know I am trying to locate results of studies
which compare the usability, accuracy, efficiency etc of different
plant field identification guide formats for different types of users. I
have found very few such published studies, but am certain I'll have
missed some along the way. Any pointers would be most welcome. Is
there a book which provides guidelines on how to write plant field
guides? Similarly, I am also interested in any elements of recent innovation
in plant field guide formats which people think are of particular note.
