Dear Fellow PEETsters,

AMERICAN SCIENTIST magazine, the publication of Sigma Xi (which most of you
are no doubt familiar with) recently published a controversial article by
Steve Vogel of Duke University on "Academically Correct Biology." If you
don't subscribe to AS, the article (which is quite short) can be viewed and
read at: http://www.amsci.org/amsci/Issues/macroscope/macroscope98-11.html

The editors of AS have asked me to moderate an internet forum based on this
article. The forum works just like a regular mailing list. If you want to
participate, you subscribe, and then you may post any comments. You will
also get the comments of all other members of the forum, admittedly
filtered through me as moderator to screen out wild political material,
obscenities, religious diatribes and all the other things biolgists are
prone to indulge in. Seriously, most postings will go through completely
unaltered, checked only for repetetiveness, excessive length, and adherence
to the fundamental rules of courtesy.

If you'd like to join the forum, you can sign up at:
http://www.amsci.org/amsci/editors/forum.html This will access a page that
will in turn send you to the signup process.

The discussion archives will be available at:
http://amsci-forum.amsci.org/archives/november-forum.html.

Please join us with your own unique response to this provocative article!
