Dr. Jarvie,

I am an extra-institutional mycologist. My expertise is in the Amanitaceae.
Since 1984, I have written extensively on the genus Amanita with a worldwide
scope. Species critical for the understanding of certain parts of the
genus are described from the region including Irian Jaya. Particularly,
SE Asia seems to be a center of recent speciation for a large and colorful
group of edible species closely related phenetically to Amanita hemibapha
and its subspecies.

I would be interested in entering discussion as to how my expertise might
relate to your project(s).

You might also find of interesting a recently published book (of which
I am co-author) --- Protocols for an All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory of Fungi
in a Costa Rican Conservation Area (available on the web through amazon.com)
by A. Y. Rossman et al. I believe (and to-date reviewers agree) that the
concepts are extensible to many other regions and can be "sized to fit"
resource and staff limitations.

I am a research associate (hons.) of the New York Botanical Garden.

Sincerely,

Rod Tulloss
