The Tasmanian Tiger (Thylacine) Hunt

The last known individual of Thylacinus cynocephalus died in a Hobart Zoo
in Tasmania in 1933.

The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery is currently preparing a display on
the Tasmanian Tiger (Thylacinus cynocephalus). The Museum and Art Gallery
are interested in tracking down information on where collections of the
Thylacine are held around the world.

The aim is to develop a database of information on the surviving
collections of the Thylacine held in overseas museums and universities. We
are interested in any details that can be provided e.g. on the collectors,
date of collection, type of material i.e. skins and/or skeletal remains,
and any other additional anecdotal information on the material and how they
were obtained.

The information obtained will be used in display planning; and also to
document the extinction of what was, in it's time, the largest surviving
carnivorous marsupial.
