[Reply to administration]:  The person borrowing and (presumably)
annotating specimens provides a "free" curatorial service to the
institution providing the loan, one that ostensibly enhances the value of
the collection.

[Unfortunately, this added value does not detract from the immediate
problem of finding hard-currency for postage and labor.]
