DIRECTOR OF THE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA, ATHENS

The University of Georgia, Athens seeks to fill the position of Director of
the Museum of Natural History and Associate Professor/Professor in the
Institute of Ecology. The expected start date for this position  is July 1,
1998. The Museum maintains comprehensive archaeological, biological, and
geological collections that are used for research, instruction, and
outreach. The Director will play a major role in integrating the Museum
into plans for a new Environmental Complex. The position is open to all
fields of vertebrate ecology and systematics. Candidates must have
significant experience in museum administration and an outstanding record
of research. The incumbent is expected to maintain an active research
program, contribute (at less than a full load) to the instructional
program, and promote the educational and service outreach functions of the
museum. The responsibilities of this position are apportioned equally
between administration/service with a reporting line to the Office of the
Vice President for Service and research/instructional with a reporting line
to the Dean of the Franklin School of Arts and Sciences. Applications
