The Department of Invertebrates invites applications for a tenure-track
Curatorial position in invertebrates to be available January 1, 1999.  The
prime requisite is an outstanding research program in collections-based
research in metazoan invertebrates, extinct and/or extant, including active
fieldwork and appropriate laboratory and analytic approaches.  The focus
should be in one or more of the following areas: systematics, phylogenetic
analysis, biogeography, analyses of life history, or other aspects of
evolution.  The new Curator will also be responsible for managing part of
the Department's large collection of invertebrates in addition to
participating in Museum committees, educational programs, and exhibition
programs.  In addition to the collections, the department maintains a new
histology laboratory, part of a molecular systematics laboratory, and a
sponsorship program for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.  The
salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The
successful candidate must have the Ph.D. by the time of appointment.
