LECTURER IN PLANT PATHOLOGY/MYCOLOGY
(Tenurable)
The School of Rural Science and Natural Resources invites applications for
the position of Lecturer in Plant Pathology/mycology.
The successful candidate will be a member of a new multidisciplinary School
which has an international reputation for high quality teaching and research
in the areas of botany, agriculture and ecosystem management. He/she will
contribute towards teaching of first year biology and towards higher level
teaching in mycology and plant pathology, and would be expected to be highly
active in research including the supervision of honours and research
students. In addition, the appointee will be expected to participate in
consultancy activities and develop links with industrial, professional and
community groups.
Candidates must have a PhD in an area of Plant Pathology and Mycology with a
substantial background in Botany/Agriculture/Plant Ecology. A good track
record of research publications, the ability to attract research funding, a
flair for teaching and the ability to work as a member of a team are
essential requirements. Applications from candidates who have research
experience with crops or other plants of the region are especially welcome.
