Taxonomy vs. ethics

Hello,

It seems to me that most of the disputers of this issue consider
vertebrates as the only animals. However, diging soil in garden kills
many animals (earthworms, nematodes, rotifers and so on). Moreover,
number of nematodes living in a gram of wood may well exceed some
thousands but noone appears afraid of using wood in fire place. For sure
these invertebrates feel every touch and react vigorously. How do you
feel about these animals?

Regards to all,
Mike
