Codes of Nomenclature in the 21st Century
A three-hour seminar will be held on Monday, 4 November 1996, in Room 1208
of the Zoo-Psych Building on the College Park Campus of the University of
Maryland featuring Dr. Dan H. Nicolson of the Natural History Museum,
Smithsonian Institution who will present an historical overview of codes of
nomenclature to the present day; Dr. Kevin de Queiroz also of the Natural
History Museum who will present his views on the role of codes in the next
century; and Dr. John McNeill of the Royal Ontario Museum who will present
the "BioCode" (see http://www.rom.on.ca/ebuff/intro.htm for more
information), the draft code designed to serve the nomenclatural needs of
systematic biology through the next century.
Refreshments will be served; brown-bagging encouraged. Parking is available
in Parking Garage 2 next to the Zoo-Psych building. See
