Dear Taxacomers interested in parasitic plants,

The parasitic plant discussion list mentioned a few days ago has become a
reality much faster than I had expected. I am especially pleased to be able
to thank Rick Walker most cordially for having installed it for us. It is
currently called the "Holoparasite mailing list", and can be subscribed
to by sending the message:

    SUB PP Jan Schlauer

(replace "Jan Schlauer" by your name) to the address.

    listserv at opus.hpl.hp.com

Correspondence then goes to

    pp at opus.hpl.hp.com

Intended subjects to be discussed:
Taxonomy, systematics, physiology, ecology, conservation/pest-control,
cultivation, and other, relating to parasitic plants.

In spite of the name, I think also saprophytic plants (mycotrophic
parasites) and hemiparasites should be covered on this list. Neighbouring
disciplines like mycorrhiza and symbioses should also not be excluded
(although there may be discussion lists devoted to these subjects more
specifically - no competition intended!).

Kind regards
Jan
