DESCRIPTION: This position will act as manager of the Museum's mammal
collection which includes collecting and preparing specimens,
implementing curatorial procedures for collections and managing
specimen loans. Position will also conduct original research, prepare
grant proposals to support research and collection conservation
projects. And will develop cooperative efforts with other agencies.
TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a four-year college/university
with a degree in biology, zoology, or a science curriculum related to
the area of expertise and two years of experience in specialty area, a
Master's Degree in natural science area may be substituted for
experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Masters Degree with coursework in mammalogy and
field biology. Experience in managing a mammal research collection,
and experience with PC based computer programs and a working knowledge
of programming, database management, and spread sheets.
