Position Announcement: OTS Instructor of Tropical Biology

The Organization for Tropical Studies invites applications for the 2/3-time
position of Instructor of Tropical Biology to lead 4 offerings of OTS'
oldest and best-known course Tropical Biology: An Ecological Approach.  This
8-week course is offered twice each year in Costa Rica for competitively
selected graduate students from the 55 member institutions of the OTS
consortium.  The Instructor will have a doctorate in some aspect of tropical
biology, extensive field research experience, knowledge of Costa Rica,
ability to communicate well in both English and Spanish, and excellent
leadership, organizational, and teaching skills.  Knowledge of OTS is a
plus.  The stipend is $18,000 plus all costs while engaged in teaching.
Duke University benefits (health insurance, retirement, etc.) are provided.
Time for research at OTS field stations and support to attend scientific
meetings is also available.  The start date is around November first, 1996
in preparation for the January-March, 1997 course.  Applications will be
