If I understand you correctly, it's not a new anything, since you are not
putting it anywhere, you are just recognizing a different synonym as better
reflecting the taxonomy.  I have a similar situation with a species
originally described in one of the genera I work on, but later transfered to
a different one.  It has the diagnostic synapomorphies of the genus in which
it was originally described, and I refer to it by that name, rather than its
more "modern" one.
