Subsp. or ssp. ?

It is a fact that the Code does not give any formal rule on how to
abbreviate ranks.  Then, I suggest to look on how the Code uses
abbreviations.  And I am unable to find any use of ssp.  If one finds
an example, I would be grateful to see it.
