Reply from Zoological Record:

The message starts with a reference to the requirement of the
discussion draft of the proposed 4th edition of the International Code
of Zoological Nomenclature that new names be reported in the
Zoological Record within 5 years of of their original publication,
for them to be considered available.

Bejsak does not make clear how this first statement relates to the
remainder of his message - there is no connection between Zoological
Record and Entomological Abstracts. It is assumed the inference is
that there would be some sort of selection made as to which names
should appear in Zoological Record and hence (assuming relevant
proposals in the new draft Code are accepted) become available.

Zoological Record has a policy of including all items
containing newly published names - zoologists should be assured that
relevant items are never deliberately omitted, and all practical
steps are taken to find suitable material.

It is greatly appreciated when authors and editors take the trouble
to send copies of their publications and all should expect written
aknowledgment of receipt. Instances of items being omitted from
Zoological Record should be brought to our attention so the matter
can be fully investigated and rectified - a written response to
enquiries is always given.
