'male' and 'female' symbols

The following does NOT constitute an endorsement of Word...

NOTE To display and print a particular symbol, Word needs both the screen
font and the printer font that contain that symbol.  If you have
installed only the printer font, the symbols may be printed properly but
may not be displayed correctly....

I assume that conversely, if you do not have the printer font, you may be
unable both to print AND display that character.

When all else fails, in the US, automated phone tips are available at
1-800/936-4100.  Technical support (Windows) is available (0600 - 1800
Pacific Time) from 206/462-9673.  Microsoft acces to the driver library
download service via modem (1200/2400/9600; 0, 8, 1): 206/936-6735.  In
Canada: 905/507-3022.

Access the Driver Library at the Microsoft Internet FTP archive host:
ftp.microsoft.com.  Login as anonymous; your complete e-mail address is
your password.

Beyond that, I am unable to offer any suggestions...
