WDCM bacterial name list

Dear all:
This is an announcement that WFCC MIRCEN World Data Center for
Microorganisms has published the bacterial name list on our server, 31
January 1996. Data is based on "Approved lists of bacterial names" amended
edition. The list was first published in the International Journal of
Systematic bacteriology (IJSB 30: 225-420 1980) and reprinted in book form
to provide for the requirements of the Bacteriological Code (1976) in
initiating a new starting date for bacterial nomenclature, 1 January 1980.
In the amended edition, the errors found in IJSB 30:225-420 were corrected,
and WDCM copied these corrections. Following data fields; Genus name,
species epithet, subspecies epithet, authors, year, and type strains were
cross-checked with the list independently developed and maintained at DSMZ
(Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen), and reproved with
"Approved lists of bacterial names" . WDCM appreciate to Dr Manfred Kracht
and Dr Dr Norbert Weiss of DSMZ (DSM) for their kind support for the data
correction. The bacterial name list on our server currently cover around
3/5 of known bacterial species names and we will keep updating names based
on IJSB publications and others. Data in WDCM bacterial name list is
hyperlinked to other databases on WDCM server, i.e. CCINFO (directory of
culture collection of the world), STRAINS-bact(database of bacterial
strains preserved in culture collection of the world), and "objective
synomyms" are automatically retrieved. URL for the bacterial name list is:
