Frederick,
You can get a lot of good stuff (Genetic Data Environment or GDE
from the Harvard Genome Library, SeqApp and ReadSeq from Don Gilbert at
Indiana, Clustal for sequence alignment), etc. via ftp from

ftp.bio.indiana.edu

You can also get CLUSTAL W (Thompson et al.) from the European Molecular
Biology Laboratory site - this one might be really useful for you;

ftp.embl-heidelberg.de/pub/software/ or
gopher.embl-heidelberg.de/pub/software/ or
http://stem.pi.embl-heidelberg.de/ENBL/index.html

An ever-increasing number of WWW sites also provide mechanisms for
downloading programs for alignment, sequence comparison and phylogenetic
analysis. Most of them list programs other than their own and provide
links to many other sources.
Some really useful ones are:

The Tree of Life Project (Univ. Arizona- D. & W. Maddison)
http://phylogeny.arizona.edu/tree/programs/programs.html

The International Willi Hennig Society
http://www.vims.edu/~mes/hennig.html

PHYLIP (Joe Felsenstein- Univ. Washington)
http://evolution.genetics.washington.edu/phylip.html

I hope this helps. If you can't access something specific I may be
able to send it to you as an attachment. If you can, have fun!
                                                        Cheers, Jim Whitfield
