Allotypes in botany

I have been watching with interest the discussion on zoological allotypes.
We have similar problems in botany. Plants can be monoecious, and it
might be desirable to take a staminate specimen and designate as having
special status to accompany a pistillate holotype. Similarly, a fruiting
specimen might be an important companion to a flowering holotype. There
is of course always the danger that the allotype and the holotype might
turn out to be of different species, but that problem can be dealt with.
Does anyone here favor an ammendment to the ICBN to allow this? This is
just an idea, one I thought of an hour ago, so it may have problems I
have not considered.
