Requirements: B.S. degree in a biological science and
one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7
level (specialized experience is experience which
equips the applicant with the particular knowledge,
skills and abilities to perform successfully the
duties of the position); education may be substituted
for specialized experience; graduate degree in
biological systematics preferred; ability to work with
a high degree of detail.
Duties: The incumbent assists the USDA, NRCS,
National Plant Data Center (NPDC), Baton Rouge, LA and
other agencies working cooperatively on the
Interagency Taxonomic Information System (ITIS); works
as a team member of the Taxonomy Working Group aiding
in the development of taxonomic checklists in
cooperation with taxonomic specialists; provides
leadership in coordination efforts; networking with
taxonomic specialists.
