Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden is pleased to present its 13th=20
annual Southwestern Botanical Systematics Symposium on 24 May=20
1997. The topic, "Evolution and Taxonomy of Southwestern Plants",=
=20
will address advances in our understanding of plant groups=20
occurring in the southwestern United States and adjacent areas. =20
The keynote speaker is Billie L. Turner, University of Texas,=20
Austin.  Other presenters are J. Curtis Clark, California State=20
Polytechnic University (on Encelia and relatives, Asteraceae),=20
J. Travis Columbus, Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden (Bouteloua,=20
Gramineae), Gerald J. Gastony, Indiana University (cheilanthoid=20
ferns), Jennifer A. Matos, California State University, Northridge=
=20
(Pinus, Pinaceae), J. Mark Porter, Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden=
=20
(Polemoniaceae), and Robert S. Wallace, Iowa State University=20
(Cactaceae).

Early registration (prior to 30 April) is $45 ($25 for students). =
=20
After 30 April registration is $65 ($40 for students). This fee=20
includes the Friday evening mixer and  Saturday lunch.  The=20
Saturday evening banquet, featuring Dr. Turner=92s keynote address,=
=20
