freeze my herbarium

As I recall, a recent article in one of the museum journals reported that
at least 5 days at below freezing  was necessary to ensure that the
temperature would be reduced to below freezing, for an acceptable length
of time, in the center of a more-or-less standard box used for shipping
herbarium specimens.  So, at ND, we are following that advice.
