ASSISTANT TO ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
(ENTOMOLOGIST)

LOCATION:  COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE AND LIFE SCIENCES, UNIVERSITY OF GUAM

COLLEGE DESCRIPTION:  The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS)
prides itself in providing high quality and useful agricultural teaching,
research and extension work relevant to industry needs; protecting the
environment; enhancing economic opportunities; and providing for the
social well-being of the people in Guam and the Western Pacific Region.
CALS has recently moved to a new multimillion dollar facility overlooking
the Pacific Ocean.  Spacious research labs are modern installations that
were designed with input from scientists.  CALS/AES is currently composed
of ten research scientists and their staff, who operate several
experiment stations.

CHARACTER OF DUTIES:  This is a tenure-track position.  Primary duty is
to pursue research grants in order to develop innovative pest management
systems, to maintain existing programs and to curate the college's insect
collection.  Other duties include teaching undergraduate students from
various degree programs and graduate students in the environmental
science program and some extension work.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: Required:  Applicants must have a Ph.D. in
entomology.  Incumbent must have an established publication record, with
a strong background in biological control.  Desired:  Experience in
tropical agriculture is preferred.
