A notice for the following position appeared in SCIENCE in February
with an April 15 closing date.  Although we will begin reviewing the

ORNITHOLOGIST:  The Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia seeks
an outstanding ornithologist for the career-track position Assistant
Curator of Ornithology.  Appointment begins approximately October
1996.  Requirements:  (1) Ph.D. in Biology/Zoology; (2) demonstrated
research ability in systematics and/or evolutionary biology; (3)
ability to establish, maintain, and obtain funding for an independent
research program; (4) experience curating a systematic collection of
birds of the world, including computerized data management; (5)
desire and ability to participate in the public programs of the
institution.  Potential exists for adjunct appointments at area
universities with opportunities for teaching and advising graduate
