Forest in the Trees

The US National Research Council, a branch of the National Academy of
Sciences recently published:

   Finding the Forest in the Trees: The Challenge of Combining Diverse
   Environmental Data. (144 pp, paper, tel: 1-800-624-6242, or 202-334-
   3313, National Academy Press, $25.00, ISBN 0-309-05082-0).


The small book primarily deals with issues of standardization, integration
and access for global change and other long-term environmental data but
the discussion and 18 conclusions are relevant for biodiversity database
modeling, design and for biodiv data management.
